AUTONOMOUS WATERING SYSTEM
Welcome to our Design Project Site. In 1st year Engineering Design, we were challenged to create an autonomous watering system. On this site you can learn about our team members, our goals and track our weekly progress.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
The purpose of this project is to create an autonomous watering system that will automatically water a plant or set of plants when needed. Autonomous irrigation systems serve the purpose of watering plants or crops by themselves, eliminating the need for a human to physically water the plants themselves. The system is also important in conserving water and, in turn, saving money and implementing environmentally-friendly practices. The system must be coded to determine the appropriate amount of water that needs to be delivered to the plants based on environmental conditions -- temperature, humidity, light, and soil moisture -- that are to be tracked by sensors. The data from the sensors must be stored to memory and used in code to calculate the volume and frequency of watering. The system must also be wired together and powered by a continuous power source to keep it running constantly so it can gather data and perform its watering operations. At the conclusion of the project, a fully autonomous watering system should be constructed, consisting of a power source, sensors, a clock system, a memory system, a water reservoir and controllable valve, and whatever piping is necessary to deliver the water to the plants.

SCHEDULE
WEEK 1 & 2
The aims for weeks 1 and 2 is to brainstorm, launch our website and finish our project proposal. We also will be doing any necessary research and construction and wiring of the circuit.
WEEK 3, 4 & 5
The aim during these weeks is to continue with research and construction of the circuit, and begin programming and creating an algorithm.
WEEK 6Â & 7
The aim during these weeks is to finish research, construction, programming, etc. and begin testing the system and fix anything that needs improvement.
WEEK 8 & 9
The aim for these weeks is to finish any testing and prepare the final report.
